WePlant finances existing tree-planting organizations in the Canadian province of your choice using your monthly contribution.

We’ve selected theses provinces either because they offer great potential for reforestation or because they face a unique challenge that can be mitigated by planting trees.

The “change” or “roundup” is calculated as the number of cents to the next whole dollar. For example, if you bought a cup of tea at Starbuck for $2.80, the app would add $0.20 of “change” to your running tally for the month. Had the tea cost $1.50, the change would have been $0.50. If the tea had been $3.00 there would be no change, as it is already a whole dollar amount.
- 06
Yes. We are sharing the exact location of the planting sites in each of the available provinces on our website. You can also see the GPS coordinates, Google Earth satellite map imagery, and pictures from the planting site!

Our governments failed to adequately fight climate change. Today, carbon pollution is about 60% higher than their levels in 1992, the year in which world leaders met in Rio de Janeiro and agree to limit carbon emissions.
WePlant believe we must undergo an unprecedented process of mobilization, collaboration, and empowerment at the grassroots level if we wish to survive the existing climate crisis.
With the help of FinTech, we can bypass government inaction; create a community of those who think alike; pool our financial resources; and become the leading force in tackling the climate crisis.
- 08
Security is our first priority. That’s why we use the same security measures as major Canadian banks—256-bit encryption, SSL connections and strict internal security policies based on ISO standards—to ensure your information is never at risk.

The “cost per tree” vary based upon many factors, including the: (1) Selected provinces, (2) Reforestation project size, (3) Planting site location, accessibility, road access, and landscape (4) Seedling costs & farms proximity, (5) Local taxes, (6) Tree-planting partner’s specific cost structure, (7) Materials availability near planting site, (8) Timing of reforestation activity and labor availability, and few others. We can group all of these factors into five categories, and provide the following “cost per tree” breakdown:
Site preparation. Between $0.10 - $0.15 per tree.
Seedling. Between $0.30 - $0.40 per tree.
Direct labor cost. Between $0.25 - $0.30 per tree
Incidental related cost. Between $0.15 to $0.20 per tree.
Maintenance & monitoring. Between $0.10 - $0.15 per tree.
Total. $0.90 - $1.20 (highly vary from project to project).
For the year 2023, WePlant will plant your trees at a cost of $1 per trees, which represent the average cost we’ve negotiated under the Reforestation Agreements we’ve concluded with our different tree-planting partner’s.
WePlant re-negotiate all Reforestation Agreements on a yearly basis to make sure the “cost-per-tree” reflect the current market conditions. Therefore, the average “cost per tree” is updated at the beginning of each year.

GIVE. WePlant’s Roundup Technology “roundup” the cost of your purchase to the nearest dollar each time you make a transaction with your credit and debit cards, and donate it to WePlant.
PLANT. WePlant finances existing tree-planting organizations in the Canadian province of your choice using the monthly accumulated pennies from those transactions.
EARN. WePlant’s Cash Reward Referral Program enables you to share the WePlant app with your networks and earn income on a monthly basis from each successful referral.
- 14
Nope! Once you finish the signup process and link your credit and/or cards, the app will keep track of your purchases, calculate the round up amount and donate to WePlant without you having to do anything else.
- 15
It’s easy. For each month, we simply divide your monthly contribution by the average cost per tree WePlant has negotiated for the current year under our different Reforestation Agreements. Let’s say you’ve contributed $30 last month, and our average “cost per tree” is 1$ for that specific year. Then, we will plant 30 trees with your contribution.
- 16
Again, it’s easy. We simply add up the number of trees planted by all of your Tribe members! All of these people plant trees because of YOU!
- 17
The app keeps track of your change from each of your transactions throughout the month. At the end of the month, the app will donate your accumulated change to WePlant. You will see a new line on your card statement for this contribution with the name of WePlant. For example, if your change totaled $18.52 for a given month, you would see a new line on your statement that says “WePlant contribution”: $18.52.”
- 18
In Canada, we can plant trees anywhere from April to October. Therefore, the exact timing depends mainly on our tree-planting partner’s own planning, and the location of the reforestation site.
- 19
We currently support debit cards and credit cards from all major Canadian banks.

WePlant is carefully selecting its tree-planting partners based upon many factors, including their ability to closely monitor and document the full cycle of the planting activities. Under a typical Reforestation Agreement, WePlant’s tree-planting partners have an obligation to prepare the following three (3) reports:
Pre-Planting Report. This report document everything from the moment WePlant wire your donation to our tree-planting partner’s up to the day the tree-planting activity begin. The report include details about the seeding procurement & delivery, site preparation, and many other things.
Tree-Planting Report. This report document everything at the site between the first and the last day of the tree-planting activity. The collected data includes the total number of trees planted, species planted, survival rate, area under restauration, among others.
Post-Planting Report. This report is produced once per year and document your forest growth from the day the tree-planting activity is over. We usually send someone on site to do a plot survey to report key metrics including the survival rate, among others. We also track existing technology (i.e., drone inspection and/or high-resolution satellite imagery) to monitor the development of our forest.
Each report will also contain pictures and/or video that we will share on website. These on-going monitoring report & oversight enable WePlant to ensure the long-term success of our reforestation’s projects.

Your monthly contributions to WePlant are […] tax deductible.

This is a great question! We’ve implemented a very rigorous internal process to be sure your trees are actually being planted, which includes the following steps:
Tree-planting partner’s selection. Before entering into any Reforestation Agreement with any potential tree-planting partner’s, we conduct an in-depth due-diligence which cover, among other things, a complete review of their track records.
Pre-Planting Report. In this report, our tree-planting partner confirms they verify that the nursery shipping invoice for each of our projects match the numbers of seed purchased and delivered on the planting sites.
Tree-Planting Report. In this report, our tree planting partners confirm they’ve conducted a visual inspection and plots survey to validate that the number of trees planted match the number of seed delivered on site. We also request our tree-planting partners to verify the total salary of the planters (which are paid a fix salary per tree planted) matched the number of seed delivered onsite.
Finally, our tree-planting partner will take many pictures and/or videos to document the full cycle of the tree-planting process from the moment your seed arrive onsite to the actual work of our tree-planters. We are doing our best to upload everything on our website so you can see the end-result of your donation!

Then, each member of your L1-Group will also refer new people. These new referrals will form the L2-Group. The 3rd level of referrals are individuals referred by your L2-Group, and are called the L3-Group. You Tribe includes all members from L1-Group, L2-Groupe and L3-Group. You’ve got it, that’s a LOT of people!

All of these members will be added-up to your Tribe!
- 34
Let’s do some math! Let’s say you do refer 10 new members. This is your L1-Group. If each member of your L1-Group also refers 10 new members, then your L2-Group will have 100 (10x10) members. If each of them also refers 10 new members, then your L3-Group will count 1,000 new members (100 x 10). Therefore, your Tribe size will include members from your L1-Group (10), plus the people in your L2-Group (100), and the individuals in your L3-Group (1,000). This adds up to 1,110 members! There is no limit on how big your Tribe can be!
- 35

- 36

- 37
